welcome to ali and margo, and thanks to hannah on getting us started with serious proust discussion (although i agree with ali that we should continue the tradition of so-called "jokes" by proust, even if only in our interpretations of our friend marcel). the mystery of my book has been somewhat solved but by no means remedied - it got "missent" by the usps and ended up in the wilds of south san francisco (the industrial city!). anyway, i went ahead and got an ancient copy of "swann's way" en anglais to start with before the french behemoth arrives... soon i will be ready to post on the text! huzzah!
